What is the Political Courage Test?

Illinois Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I don't like to use a single term to describe my abortion position since I am a mixture. I am against late term abortions, taxpayer funding of abortions and against euthanasia. I am for parental consent for minors. I do believe that abortions should remain legal up to at least 20 weeks .
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I support Social Security and Medicare especially since I am as physician . We must keep funding them as we are doing but I do not believe we should expand these programs to younger ages. That would take away funding for the elderly who need every dollar now available.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
There should be limits on the contributions from these enormous institutions. I am in favor of taxpayer funding of political campaigns to help small self funding campaigns like mine.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
We spend almost $1 trillion dollars per year on defense and have the best military in the world. We have to keep up and have the most modern weapons. The amount we are spending should do that.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Education standards should be set by local entities. There should be limited input by the Federal and State Governments.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
There must some regulations but I am against any further taxes on carbon industries.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I am a Life Member of the NRA and believe we have too many regulations now. We should eliminate the FOID card in ILL. Go after the criminals not the law abiding gun owners.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
I am for repealing most of it, but we have to keep the good parts such pre-existing condition clauses and allowing young people to stay on their parents' policies till age 27. We must be able to tailormake our policies and pay only for what we need. We should be able to cross stateliness to buy policies.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
We should use other means to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons such as sanctions.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
But we must have fair trade. Pres. Trump has done a good job of using tariffs to negotiate better trade deals w the rest of world.
Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
